A developer and owner of her own real estate company, Micki Patrick is no stranger to construction. In 2005 she and a partner, Dickson Watts, developed a green-space subdivision in rural Botetourt County.

The concept of the development was to attract like-minded people who care about conservation and the environment. The development’s covenants are designed to ensure environmentally-sustainable practices to protect the area’s natural beauty. Micki’s own home was one of the first few built in the new development.

Fortunately, she didn’t have to sacrifice style or conveniences because of her dedication to the environment when she contacted Southern Heritage Homes. Because the company’s homes are built in a controlled-environment, there is less waste incurred during construction. Additionally, when the home is transported to the jobsite, the land is impacted less than a stick-built house.

The home was purchased as an owner-completion project, which means Micki herself contracted the on-site labor.
